Andover High School Student Wins Minneapolis Farmers Market Reusable Bag Design Contest

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Officials from the Minneapolis Farmers Market and COUNTRY Financial® unveiled the 2019 reusable bag design, created by Andover High School Senior Madalynn Williams-Solberg. Madalynn will receive a $2,000 scholarship from COUNTRY Financial, and her artwork will be printed on 10,000 bags to be handed out at the market this season.

Minnesota teens ages 14 and older were invited to submit designs with the theme “Growing a Green Future,” and were required to include the phrase “2019 Minneapolis Farmers Market” within the design.

The runners-up for the bag design contest are:

    ·   First Runner-Up: Elaine Qu, Senior at De La Salle High School in Minneapolis

    ·   Adelynn Pettee, grade 11 at Simley High School in South Saint Paul

Qu will receive a $1,000 scholarship and Pettee will receive $500 from COUNTRY Financial.

Representatives from COUNTRY Financial will be handing out free reusable bags with the winning design to farmers’ market patrons on the following dates in 2019:

    ·   June 15

    ·   June 29

    ·   July 13

    ·   July 27

    ·   August 10

COUNTRY Financial has sponsored the Minneapolis Farmers Market Bag Design Contest for eight years. “COUNTRY Financial’s roots are in agriculture, and we’re excited to be a part of the Minneapolis Farmers Market again this year, which spotlights so many local vendors,” said Doug Pyle, Agency Vice President at COUNTRY Financial. “We’re always so impressed with the artistic talent from our local students, and are honored to provide them with scholarships to pursue their passion.”
