Bloomington, IL. – COUNTRY Financial Agribusiness Underwriting employees participated in the Crop Insurance Reinsurance Bureau (CIRB) fly-in to Washington, DC, on April 12, 2024, to promote crop insurance for farmers. Lindsey Rinkenberger, Director of Commercial and Agribusiness Operations; John Grant, Manager of Farm Underwriting Operations; and Brian Davis, Crop Product Analyst; met with legislators on Capitol Hill, to educate them on the importance of protecting, preserving, and improving the crop insurance program. Topics covered included:
COUNTRY offers crop insurance coverages in Illinois and is one of the organizations owned by the Illinois Farm Bureau family of companies. Rinkenberger also serves as the Board Chair of CIRB. “Crop insurance is vital for protecting farmers financially when disaster hits,” Rinkenberger said. “COUNTRY is committed to helping farmers protect what they have with proper insurance coverages, such as farm and crop insurance, and helping them plan for the future of their farms.”
In addition to educating legislators at the fly-in, Grant and Davis both completed CIRB’s Emerging Leaders program, which is designed for professionals in the crop insurance industry who seek to increase their knowledge and hands-on experience with key crop insurance issues. Participants receive advocacy and communications training and have the opportunity to attend Executive Committee Meetings as well as the fly-ins. Grant and Davis were part of a class of 20 professionals, CIRB’s largest class to date.
