BLOOMINGTON, IL - The deadline to purchase federal crop insurance is quickly approaching, and COUNTRY Financial representatives are encouraging farmers to meet with their COUNTRY Financial insurance agent and/or crop specialist to make sure spring crops like corn and soybeans, along with farm assets like machinery and property, are properly covered.
“Crop insurance purchasers have until March 15 to let their agent know what coverage and options they want to purchase for that crop year. If they don’t make changes, they will receive the same coverage they had the previous year,” said Doug Yoder, Crop Agency Manager at COUNTRY Financial.
COUNTRY Financial offers federal crop insurance as well as coverages not included with federal crop insurance to provide additional protection for crops, as well as insurance coverages for farm equipment, livestock and buildings.
“It is a great time to connect with your insurance agent about the upcoming planting season and ensure all of the planning and protection needs you have for your farm are updated, including any to your farm operation,” added Yoder.
Farmers should meet with their insurance agent and/or crop specialist to discuss new features that have been introduced, such as earlier soybean planting dates, the 2023 commodity prices that will be used to calculate coverage amounts and premiums and more.
COUNTRY Financial has more than 200 COUNTRY Farm Certified Insurance Agents in Illinois who have undergone extensive training on the proper protections and legacy planning for farmers.
